Thank You’s…

Well my dear friends, the day I have waited for since I first put a pencil to paper to write my first story has come. My first book, The Purple Morrow, is published! Now that I’ve seen it up on Amazon and have started posting about it on Facebook, Twitter and Google, I feel the shakes coming on, lol It’s surreal!

But I didn’t get here alone. So many people have contributed to this little project of mine, and I’d like to thank as many of them as I can.

Mom, I’ve told you before, but it really was your suggestion that I look up different words for ‘walk’ for a grade one story that led to me discovering the versatility, mystery and magic of words.

Dad, I think if you could have bought your voracious reader of a daughter every book in existence you would have. 🙂 And thank you for that gift a year ago; I bet you had no idea I’d use it to make this crazy dream of mine come true!

Sam, you are the most patient and understanding of men for accepting this near ‘possession’ that happens when the writing mood strikes me. Thanks for your support, both moral and artistic; I love your work and I’m proud to have them showcased in my book.

Amy, my sister, I have to give you props for listening to my incessant yammering about books and writing ad nauseum, and for being honest with your views. And also for giving me the idea to lengthen the book from one to three. I’m stoked to see the final versions of your fan art!!! (Yes, I am a very proud big sister!)

Phil, my writing pillar, this book couldn’t have been written without you. All those ‘editing lashings’ as well as your moral support got me through to the end of a very trying project, finally leading to the creation of something I’m extremely proud of. Oh, yes, and your dialogue cues also helped. 😀

Gary C, Nicki R, Kat S, Bill J., and Judith M, excellent beta-readers who really came through for me. My Authonomy readers, supporters and backers whose uncommonly supportive comments buoyed me when things got tough; CLF’s you guys are included in there as well. And all my Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, LinkedIn, WordPress and Google friends and supporters, Adrianna, Justin, Glen, David, TA, Sara S., Karissa Turtle…the list goes on. I’m sure I’m forgetting people but right now and I’m sorry. 😦 But I’m honestly just glad that I can string two words together right now. 😀

  1. Congratulations! It is really amazing to see the process, and I feel so excited for you. I feel so lucky to have been able to be of the first to read it, and I can’t wait to send in for my own copy. I look forward to updates about the other two books!!

    1. Thanks Nicki! You were a great beta-reader for both books; I was so lucky to find you. 🙂 Just know that your input and support helped a ton.

(I hope things are still moving ahead for your book, BTW!)

    1. Ah, you’re enthusiasm is fantastic, Katie–and needed, I’m exhausted from being so happy, if something so ridiculous exists, lol Thanks!

    1. lol Publishing is just the beginning. Now it’s time to sell! lol But you are right–one major step is out of the way so it’s onward and upward from here. 🙂

  2. Congratulations, Dyane! How exciting! I’ve read the excerpt and look forward to reading more. This is Colleen, BTW, from the Vintage Book Fairy, popping in from my writing blog. We’ve only just “met”, but you have been kind and encouraging. Just breathe and take in the joy of all your hard work coming to fruition. 🙂
